Party!

I made this card for Embellish Parties Color Challenge.  Sorry the photo’s a little wonky.. I think it looks off because it was taken at a bit of an angle.  Oh well. Next time will have to get hubby to help.

This was my first color challenge.  Normally I shy away from color challenges because I don’t have a lot of ink colors but this one was pretty straightforward since it used the simple primary color of red, with black, white and kraft.  I would have loved to use some kraft but I don’t even have any of that!

It is also my submission for Practical Scrappers’ Floss, Fibers, and Ribbon Challenge.  I use ribbon all the time but this was the first time I tried to use a “fiber.”  The balloon strings are actually made from an old cashmere thread/yarn that came with a sweater I bought years ago.

For Stamping Vacation’s April PICK 3 Challenge, I picked:

-Use black, ivory and one other color and only those colors for everything on the card – I used red.
-Do any type of dry embossing – I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the balloons.
-Do something that can be real or faux and do it either way (like sewing) – I sewed on the button.. by hand!

For Scrappy Frog’s Pick 3 Challenge, I picked:

– Embossing
– No coloring – rarely do I ever color
– Something recycled — the thread from an old cashmere sweater

This is also my entry for Fab ‘n’ Funky’s Get It All Out Challenge.  I love this challenge because it reflects how I feel about card-making.  As much as I crave new products from Papertrey Ink and Cosmo Cricket, I really feel it is better to use what I already have.  Otherwise, my craft cabinet threatens to take over the house! For this challenge, I dug out the first stack of patterned paper I ever bought and used the black and white type pattern which I have never used before.  I also used a button for the first time.  I’ve had these buttons for years and years — I got them as part of an auction box back when I lived in North Dakota.  I can’t believe I’ve had them for that long and never used them.  Crazy!

This is also one of my entries for Paper Sundaes’ 14th Challenge to have a card with no people.  This is super easy for me because I never include people on my card.. not really my style, not to mention I don’t have any people stamps.

Also for A Spoonful of Sugar’s Challenge 100 — Happy Birthday and for Creative Card Crew Challenge 48 — Happy Birthday.

Also one of my entries for Penny’s Paper-Crafty Anything Goes Challenge — it doesn’t get any easier than that!
